These open center dahlias are Collarette (>2″ diameter) & Micro Collarette(<2″ Diameter). Each flat outer petal is attached to an inner set of petaloids. The petaloids form a ring around the open pollen center, which is the ‘collar’.
If you ever heard the 70’s Wisk laundry soap commercials ‘ring around the collar’, the form’s collarette name, may be easy to remember.
These are so cheerful in the garden and they have blooms on them all summer long.
